ACLT Friends Forever -
Planned Giving
For nearly 30 years, the American Chestnut Land Trust has protected the Parkers Creek and Governors Run watersheds, their natural and cultural resources, waterways and wildlife habitats. Through the years, just as importantly, we’ve made special friends like you. You’ve watched ACLT grow from a small dedicated group of neighbors with a vision, to a more than 700 member organization with a purpose. We know you take as much pride in this land as we do. And we know that you want it to remain just as it is today - for your children, your grandchildren and every generation to come.
Now, as you plan for the future, you can help make that a reality. By making a legacy gift to the American Chestnut Land Trust and becoming a member of our “Friends Forever” society, you can ensure that ACLT will always be here to care for and protect this beautiful and important land.
What is ACLT’s “Friends Forever” Society?
By making a legacy gift to the American Chestnut Land Trust, you will be welcomed into the “Friends Forever” Society - a group of ACLT benefactors dedicated to maintaining ACLT’s ability to care for and protect the Parkers Creek Preserve and its surrounding land. As a “Friend Forever,” you will enjoy the following benefits:
- Exclusive invitations to “Friend Forever” events and other ACLT festivities
- Recognition in The Watershed Observer and on the ACLT website (if desired)
- A commemorative gift recognizing your dedication to the on-going conservation of land in Calvert County.
- The knowledge that the American Chestnut Land Trust will continue protecting this precious land in perpetuity.Types of Planned Gifts

Frequently Used Language
The most common way people remember the American Chestnut Land Trust in a will or living trust is through a charitable bequest. You do not have to rewrite your current documents. "I give devise and bequeath to the American Chestnut Land Trust (tax I.D. #52-1489614), located in Prince Frederick, Maryland, the sum of ________________________________ dollars ($ ______________ )
(Or state a percentage of your estate, or describe real or personal property, including exact location) for the benefit of its general purposes (or specify the American Chestnut Land Trust program you wish to support).”
Your bequest is entirely under your control during life and becomes irrevocable only at death. If you have questions about bequests, please contact your financial advisor. ***Need to identify someone to refer questions to.
