About Us

Goldstein-Barn

Rolling farmland. Historical landscapes. Stunning Bay Views. Scenic trails. They’re all part of the fabric of Southern Maryland.

Since 1986, the people of the American Chestnut Land Trust have been dedicated to protecting, caring for and sharing land within the Parkers Creek and Governor’s Run watersheds. We know that if we don’t preserve our special natural and cultural places for the benefit of this and future generations, they will be lost forever.

Together, the board, staff, members and volunteers of ACLT strive to support balanced growth by promoting land conservation for the aesthetic, environmental and economic benefit of Calvert County. ACLT – a devoted team - works with communities and landowners to create spaces for wildlife to live in, researchers to learn from, adults to find peace on and children to be amazed by… forever.

The American Chestnut Land Trust is a local not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and has been fully accredited by the Land Trust Alliance.
