ACLT's 2025 Year-End Campaign
A Letter from ACLT Board President David Farr
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we had a very successful Auction in early October. It was a joy to gather with so many of you who care deeply about our mission. Your energy and enthusiasm reaffirm that our community is committed to protecting the natural resources that make this region so special. If you weren’t able to attend, please scroll down to watch our informative and inspiring staff presentations.
As we look ahead, we recognize that public funding for conservation is likely to remain limited for the foreseeable future. Federal grants have largely dried up, and the Maryland state budget is under pressure. While this poses challenges, it also underscores the importance of organizations like ACLT, and the dedicated supporters who power our mission.
Fortunately, ACLT is well-positioned to continue leading the way. We’re proud to be one of the strongest conservation groups in Maryland, with a dedicated staff, now led by our new Executive Director, Adam Griggs. More than 200 volunteers collectively donate thousands of hours each year to maintain trails, remove invasive species, grow food for local food banks, and connect our community with the land through events, guided hikes and canoe trips. Their work is inspiring, and it’s made possible by you.
We also want to remind you that ACLT’s trails are free to enjoy. Spending time in nature is good for our health, our spirit, and our sense of connection, especially during stressful and uncertain times. Whether you're hiking, birdwatching, or simply taking a quiet walk in the woods, you are welcome here.
Donations from our supporters have helped preserve vital natural spaces, protect clean water, and support meaningful environmental education. As we launch our year-end appeal, we invite you to continue supporting this shared mission, if you're in a position to do so and haven’t already made your gift for the year. We understand that many in our community are feeling the effects of the federal shutdown and other financial pressures, and we are especially grateful for all the ways our supporters continue to engage — whether through time, advocacy, or financial gifts. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us continue the work of conserving land for current and future generations.
We are motivated by the impact we know we can continue to make. With your help, ACLT will remain a leader in conservation and a model for what a strong, engaged community can achieve.
Thank you for being part of this essential work. Together, we’ll keep moving forward, no matter the challenges ahead. Now, more than ever, it is up to us.
Warm regards,

David Farr
