ACLT'S Volksmarch* & 35th Anniversary Celebration

*A Volksmarch (people’s march or walk) is a non-competitive, organized hike that encourages people to connect with nature and each other.

New & Exciting Happenings at ACLT

ACLT’s 35th Anniversary was not the only thing celebrated on December 4th!

  • The much-anticipated Holly Hill Trail was opened to the public – view the new Holly Hill Trail Map here.
  • The historic Holly Hill Log Barn, the first of many stops on the Parkers Creek Heritage Trail, is now open to the public and accessed via the Holly Hill Trail. Stop in to read the interpretive signs about the history of Holly Hill and the indigenous people who lived there, the log barn’s history, and how ACLT worked to stabilize and preserve it.
  • Follow up your visit to Holly Hill by checking out the newly-launched web pages for the Parkers Creek Heritage Trail.
  • ACLT’s Year-End Campaign kicked off with a “paddle raise” held at the end of the Celebration, which raised over $30,000 in just 10 minutes! Thank You to all who raised their paddles! Donate to the Year End Campaign here.

A huge Thank You to volunteer photographer, historian, and webmaster Carl Fleischhauer for photos of the celebration and barn, for the extensive research he has conducted on the Parkers Creek Heritage Trail, and for writing three of the new PCHT web pages.  Kirsti Uunila wrote the fourth and the entire effort depended upon research from heritage trail team members Leila Boyer and Rachel Bissett. Photos from the new Holly Hill Trail were shared from ACLT’s 12 Hikes in ’21 Facebook Group. If you have photos you would like to contribute, please email miriam@acltweb.org.
