The sidebar plugin is called Content Aware Sidebars.
The sidebars are:
Birds
Cultural Resources
Ecological Features
For Events
For Support
Get Involved
Land and Maps
The Blog Sidebar
What We Do
Who We Are
The sidebar content and the “sidebar” itself are handled in different places.
1. To edit the content of the sidebar, go to “Appearance/Widgets” in the dashboard. You will see the list of sidebars on the right. The sidebars with a blue band at the top belong to the “content aware sidebar” plugin.
Click on the down arrow on a sidebar to edit the content. For Example, “What We Do” has two widgets. The first has the text. The second calls up the calendar.
Ignore the Widget area called “SuperSide Me”. This is the plugin for our mobile menu. We are not paying for support so don’t try to update it. Also, don’t try to change the settings because it was difficult to space properly for our page header.
2. To control the sidebar, click on “Sidebars” on the dashboard list. As an example, click “Edit” for Get Involved and you will see that the sidebar is associated with only three pages even though there are seven items listed in the sidebar. Guided Canoe Trips is a full width page so no sidebar. Links that go offsite or to other sections of the site won’t use the sidebar.
When you select a sidebar for a page, the page will be added to the list you see when you edit the sidebar (as opposed to the content of the sidebar). If you decide not to use a sidebar on a page you should edit the sidebar and manually remove it.
