ACLT’s Guided Canoe Trips
Welcome to ACLT’s 2023 canoe season! We invite you to join us as we paddle up the beautiful Parkers Creek, one of the most cared for and protected creeks on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The creek is surrounded by the Parkers Creek Preserve, over 3,200 acres of wildlands and natural forests.
ACLT provides friendly, expert guides to make your trip fun, informative and safe! We also offer you the option to use our canoes (2 person) or you are welcome to bring your own canoe/kayak. While the ACLT guides give an orientation on proper canoe handling techniques and can assist beginner paddlers, this is not a canoe training event and is challenging for inexperienced paddlers.
Please note – trips are 3 hours long and can be physically strenuous.
It requires regular paddling for two hours (occasionally against wind and tides), and may require participants to help carry a canoe for up to 150 yards over loose sand and gravel to access the creek.
For their safety, children 5 and under and pets are not allowed on these trips.
Small children are able to sit in the middle of the canoe while two other adults paddle. Otherwise, a child must be able to paddle and be paired with an adult from his/her group who is a very strong paddler. Please keep this in mind when registering.
Registration is required and opens to ACLT members first.
There is a non-refundable $15/person program fee.
If you need to cancel, your payment will become a donation to the American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT). Saturday canoe trips may be postponed to Sunday, starting one hour later, due to weather (keep this in mind for your schedule). If a trip is unable to be postponed and is cancelled due to weather, refunds will be issued – though you may choose for ACLT to keep your payment as a donation. There are no date changes. If you would like to change your canoe trip date after registration, you will need to register for the other date and make another payment.
