ACLT's 2021 Calendar of Events

All Dates Tentative and Subject to COVID Restrictions

JANUARY

  • NEW! “12 Hikes in ‘21” Virtual Trail Challenge – 12-month.
    • When: January-December 2021
    • What: Participants must register, and then sign-in using the QR code at any ACLT trailhead at least one time each month to qualify for a prize at the end of the year. Participants are encouraged to upload photos from each hike to ACLT’s FB and Instagram with hashtag #ACLT12Hikesin21. Encouraged to join Facebook Group “ACLT’s Hiking Challenges Group”
    • Where: All ACLT Trails
    • Fee: FREE
    • REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

FEBRUARY

  • NEW! Valentines “Show Some Love” Unguided Hikes
    • When: Saturday/Sunday, February 13th & 14th
    • What: Participants must register and sign-in using the QR code and upload a photo (with caption) of what they love most about ACLT – can be a selfie of them with their sweetheart or a favorite trail, bridge, stream, etc. Photos will be shared on social media and a winner drawn randomly.
      Where: All ACLT Trails

MARCH

  • ACLT’S Annual Meeting
    • When: Saturday, March 6th at 10 a.m.
    • What: Same as every year except via zoom
    • Where: Virtual
    • Fee: FREE
  • NEW! Patrick’s “Leprechaun Hunt”
    • When: St. Patrick’s Day Week – March 14th-20th
    • What: Families use compasses (on their phones if they don’t have real ones) to find clues that lead them to a “pot of gold”
      BONUS: FIND ROCKS PAINTED W/4-LEAF CLOVERS
    • Where: All ACLT Trails
  • 22-Mile “Hit the Trails” Challenge
    • When: 1st Day of Spring (March 21st) to Earth Day (April 22nd)
    • What: Register and hike all trails to win a neck gaiter
    • Where: All ACLT Trails
    • Fee: $15/person or $35 for 2 individuals or family (includes free 1-year membership)

APRIL

  • Earth Day Virtual 5K Challenge
    • When: Entire month of April
    • What: Same as last year
    • Where: Virtual (not limited to ACLT trails)
    • Fee: $15/person or $35 for 2 individuals or family (includes free 1-year membership)
  • Earth Day “Now You See It/Now You Don’t” Community Clean-up Challenge & Photo Contest
    • When: Earth Day Week (April 18th-25th)
    • What: Individuals clean up their neighborhoods or local beach/park and post before and after photos, which are voted on by public
    • Where: Virtual
    • Fee: FREE
  • Earth Day-Themed Guided Hike
    • When: April 24th (rain date: April 25th)
    • What: Guided if COVID-safe
    • Where: Turkey Trail
    • Fee: FREE
  • Earth Day Highway Clean-up
    • When: TBD – at least 1 weekend in April close to Earth Day
    • What: Volunteers clean up both segments of highway adopted by ACLT
    • Where: Main Street south of Prince Frederick and Dares Beach Road along ACLT frontage
    • Fee: Free (Open to Master Naturalists and current volunteers before opening to the public)

 MAY

  • Mountain Laurel Guided Hike
    • When: May 29th (rain date: May 30th)
    • What: Guided hike
    • Where: Laurel Trail on south side
    • Fee: FREE

JUNE

  • TENTATIVE! Tails & Trails – A Fundraiser supporting CAWL and ACLT
    • When: June 5th (rain date: June 6th) 1-4p.m.
    • What: Formerly Bark in the Park
    • Where: ACLT North Side Trailhead
    • Fee: FREE

JULY

  • Passport to Preservation
    • When: 4th of July – Labor Day (Sept 6th)
    • What: Participants visit local breweries & wineries and get their passports stamped (receive discounts on beer and wine), enter to win prizes donated by venues.
    • Where: All breweries & wineries
    • Fee: $20/person or $35 for up to 2 individuals or family (free 1-year membership)

 AUGUST

  • Guided Evening Hike – Farewell to Summer
    • When: August 28th (rain date: August 29th) 6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.
    • What: Guided hike (if COVID allows)
    • Where: Turkey Trail, North Side Trailhead
    • Fee: FREE

 SEPTEMBER

  • Sip & Save
    • When: September 11th (rain date: September 12th) 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
    • What: Same event as previous years but culmination of Passport to Pres Event
    • Where: ACLT North Side Trailhead
    • Fee: $20/person

 OCTOBER

  • Parkers Creek Challenge
    • When: October 16th – 10 a.m.
    • What: Triathlon including bike, run & paddle
    • Where: South side trailhead
    • Fee: $40/member or $50/non-member 
  •  Guided Hike – Fall Foliage
    • When: October 23rd (rain date: October 24th)
    • What: Guided Hike 
    • Where: Turkey Trail (north side)
    • Fee: FREE
  • TENTATIVE – October Celebration Weekend
    • When: October 23rd and 24th
    • What: Lots of informational displays, games, and activities related to ACLT
    • Where: South side on Saturday and North side on Sunday
    • Fee: FREE

NOVEMBER

  • TENTATIVE – Annual Dinner & Auction
    • When: November 6th
    • What: Dinner followed by auction
    • Where: Elks Lodge
    • Fee: $90/person
  • Wreath-making Weekend (volunteers and their guests)
    • When: November 27th and 28th
    • What: Volunteers make wreaths for ACLT’s sale on 12/4
    • Where: ACLT Office/parking lot
    • Fee: FREE

DECEMBER

  • Annual Wreath and Greens Sale
    • When: December 4th (rain date: December 5th) 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
    • What: Hand-made wreaths and greens for sale. All greens gathered from ACLT lands
    • Where: South Side Trailhead
    • Fee: FREE
